Bought these for my 7-year-old and the blue waistband elastic is soft enough that he doesn't complain about it digging in. The fabric is mostly microfiber with a bit of spandex, so they stretch with him and still look fine after a few washes.

The boxer shorts fit fine but the polyester feels a bit slick against my son's skin during hot days. He says the mid-rise cut stays put, though, so no complaints about riding up.
